Our Founders’ Story
How two girls turned a love of robotics into a mission without borders.
Bots Without Borders was founded by two teenage girls who have been building, programming, and competing in robotics since elementary school. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion—one that shaped how they think, solve problems, and see their future.
From Curiosity to Community
Through years of robotics, they gained not only technical skills, but confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging in STEM. Robotics gave them opportunities to innovate, compete, and imagine themselves as engineers and leaders.
But as daughters of immigrants from Panama and Haiti, they also saw something else.
They realized that the opportunities they had were not equally available everywhere.
In many communities—especially in the countries their families come from—students don’t have access to robotics programs, equipment, or mentors. The same experiences that helped shape their confidence and future simply don’t exist for many students.
Why Bots Without Borders Exists
Bots Without Borders was created to change that. The organization is built on a simple belief: every student, no matter where they live, deserves the opportunity to build, create, and explore robotics.
Funding Access
Providing strategic financial support and technical resources to jumpstart robotics teams in underserved communities globally.
Peer Mentorship
Connecting students across borders to create a global peer-to-peer network where knowledge, opportunity, and inspiration are shared.
Broad Awareness
Increasing representation in STEM through initiatives that highlight diverse voices and foster inclusive education environments everywhere.
